Monsanto, BASF announce breakthrough in drought-resistant corn development - St. Louis Business Journal:

The companies said they would use the gene to developothe world’s first biotechnology-derived drought-tolerant crop. The discoverh is a timely breakthrough, according to Monsanto. Monsanto and BASF said the drought-toleranf corn product is targeted for as earlh as 2012 pending appropriateregulatory approvals. The two companies are jointly contributing $1.5 billion over the life of theirdresearch collaboration.
